Rosie O'Donnell: Celebrity Detox
First and foremost I DO NOT agree with a lot of what Rosie O'Donnell says or a majority of her opinions but after reading her book Celebrity Detox I have new found respect for her. I noticed Celebrity Detox in Jefferey's bookcase and picked it thinking it would help me sleep, I was wrong it kept me awake until couldn't stay awake any longer. Celebrity Detox chronicles Rosie's entry ( from the night Barbara Walters asked her to join The View), tenure and exit of The View. The book also delves into Rosie's personal and profession past which gives you insight into why Rosie is the person who she is today. My Mom and I have debated over why Barbara Walters asked Rosie to join The View after Meredith Vieras departure. My Mom felt like it was to get rid of Star, NO, Star's coffin was sealed not too long after her wedding. To be fair her wedding and the coverage gave The View some of it's highest ratings up to that point but it became too much. Rosie was brought in to do what Rosie does best, get ratings, generate revenue and stir the pot. The problem was Barbara Walters and the producers of The View wanted to the Rosie from her old show not the Rosie they got, I'm getting off track here so let me move on. I read Celebrity Detox in less than 48 hours (it would've been in less than 3 hours but hey it was New Years I needed some recovery time) and I was floored by her honesty and how candid she was. Yes Rosie exposed Barbara but more importantly she exposed herself. If you respect honesty and hate hypocrisy this book is worth the read. You don't have to like or agree with Rosie to close this book with a different(and maybe more respectful) opinion of one of the most polarizing and talked about people in todays poplar culture.
I loved the book and I damn it hate admitting that because Jefferey is reading this on his Blackberry and typing "I told you so"to me right now while laughing in that Dembitchy tone!
UPDATE: The "I Told You So" message came to my Blackberry 1 minute after this was posted.

That's because I'm always right. Being right and being a bitch are all I have!

I have to respond. YOU ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT! I can name more the a couple of instances where you've been wrong. But it's too early to go there.
